Jamaan, a refugee from the troubled Darfur region of the Sudan, arrived alone in England at the age of 17 and went on to excel at A Level. He successfuly applied to the David Lewis Association for a grant to help him buy text books and supplies to study Medicine at University.
"The life of a refugee is hard, but I had the drive and thankfully the support of the David Lewis Association and Refugee Action to complete my degree, so I am now able to start training as a doctor."
Kieron applied to the David Lewis Association for a grant to further his acting career.
"The support of the David Lewis Association as allowed me to take the necessary steps towards achieving my acting dream. I will now be able to get headshots, a showreel and Spotlight membership, plus some trips to London for auditions, all of which are essential to my acting career. Without the support of the DLA I would have struggled so much and I can't express how grateful I am."
Hollie successfully applied to the David Lewis Association for help in funding her Taekwondo ambitions.
"I would like to thank David Lewis for their continued support in my sporting career. I do not feel I could have continued competing or achieved my Commonwealth Bronze Medal without the financial support that the David Lewis Grant provided."
